Growing up as a young boy in Dublin, it’s fair to say all signs pointed toward Kevin Egan falling in love not with soccer, but with another local favorite: Gaelic Football.
“My father Liam was a member of the Dublin team in the 70s that was hugely successful,” he says. “I grew up dreaming of replicating my Dad by wearing the sky blue of ‘the Dubs’.”
But while he had Gaelic Football skills of his own, it was the other “football” that stole his heart.
“On the street, all we ever played was soccer. It was an absolute obsession.
