UTEP sophomore-to-be Tobi Amusan easily won her heat of the 100-meter hurdles Friday to advance to Saturday's semifinals of the World Junior Championships in Athletics in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The Nigerian's time of 13.26 seconds was well off her personal best and the fourth-fastest winning time of the five heats, but still saw her comfortably advance as a top seed to the 24-person semis.

Amusan, the favorite to win Sunday's final, finished almost a half-second ahead of second place in her heat (Yuri Okubu of Japan in 13.73). She has lane 5 in the first heat of Saturday's semis, set for 9:15 a.
