This is a back-to-basics week for the UTEP offense, and for quarterbacks Zack Greenlee and Ryan Metz. Basically, it's fall camp all over again.
The competition to be the Miners' starter against Louisiana Tech is on, and to that end they were rotating by play in Tuesday's practice. The aim is to have one selected by Thursday's practice, or possibly after Thursday's practice, and the rotation will be over by game day in Ruston.
After the first day of a two- or three-day battle, coach Sean Kugler said he was happy with how both quarterbacks responded.
"They are getting equal reps with the ones and twos, equal reps with the same scheme," Kugler said.
