The shakeup in Conference USA last Saturday was complete and total.
The recent history of the league hasn't seen a day like this one, when UTSA, a 16 1/2-point home underdog coming off a 3-9 season, shocked defending West champion Southern Miss 55-32 while North Texas, coming off a 1-11 season, beat East co-favorite Marshall 38-21.
Both UTSA and North Texas have first-year coaches and while both have improved this year, there hadn't been anything to hint this was coming. UTSA is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference, North Texas is 3-3, 2-1.
"It finally came together for us," North Texas head coach Seth Littrell said.
