UTEP's All-American junior guard Will Hernandez is going to have a shot at the NFL, but after considering his options this winter, he has opted for a final season with the Miners.
The deadline to declare for the NFL draft passed Monday, and while projections had him as a likely choice, he made his decision to stay in El Paso.
"I wanted to help the team get a conference championship, have a winning season, and I felt like I needed another year under coach (Sean) Kugler and (offensive line coach Spencer) Leftwich," said Hernandez, a first-team All-Conference USA and second-team All-American selection.
