Miner defense prepares for Army's triple test

A week ago, the UTEP defense faced a Texas offense that looked like it was drawn up in a video game programming room, a frantic, high-paced attack that turned the game into a sprint.

This week, the Miners face an offense that looks like it was lifted from a defensive coordinator's nightmare: Army's methodical triple option that rumbles forward like a tank.

Almost immediately, UTEP's focus shifts from scrambling to getting lined up to using buzzwords like "discipline," "gap responsibility" and "having your eyes right."

At least in terms of pace and speed of play, UTEP will see and has seen lots of offenses that try to do what Texas does, including one in the opener against New Mexico State.
