Miners better on offense but fall to Alabama

The UTEP women's basketball team took a step forward in Tuesday's 78-60 loss to Alabama in that they shot the ball well and generated some offense at the Patrick Harrington Classic, but ultimately were undone by a rash of 24 turnovers and a Crimson Tide team that buried 11 3-pointers.

Those problems were especially acute early when the Miners fell into a 30-13 hole four minutes into the second quarter. From there, led by a game-high 20 points from Sparkle Taylor, they played evenly with 11-1 Alabama the rest of the way but were too far back to avoid falling to 2-9.
