The UTEP women's basketball team improved in several areas Saturday, but still couldn't generate offense in a 61-40 loss to Kansas State in the final game of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Miners shot 23 percent and only had one player in double figures, Sparkle Taylor with an even 10. After falling behind 16-2 in the first seven minutes, the 1-5 Miners were competitive with 7-0 Kansas State the rest of the way but were in too big of a hole.
"We played hard," coach Keitha Adams said. "The thing we did that we didn't do (in the previous two games), we had good shot selection.
