In the immediate aftermath of a 93-46 victory over Western New Mexico that, for a week at least, set everything right with the UTEP women's basketball team, coach Keitha Adams was asked to guess what school record her team set Thursday night.
"Assists?" she asked. "Shooting? I haven't seen a stat sheet."
Standing a few feet away from her, Sparkle Taylor knew without even peeking.
"Rebounding!" she shouted.
There's the winning answer. The Miners outrebounded the overmatched Mustangs 66-21, and 66 total boards and the plus-45 margin did indeed set program records.
"About dang time," Adams said.
