Miners rally for best-ever start

The UTEP women's first key to playing an explosive Florida Atlantic team Thursday in their own gym where they usually win was to weather the early storm.

For a quarter and a half, that storm raged against the Miners, it bent them. Ultimately, it didn't break them, it blew itself out and UTEP raged back.

The Miners used a 39-13 run starting early in the second quarter, turning a 12-point deficit into a 14-point lead that wasn't threatened. The 78-66 victory moved them to 15-1. That marks the best record in program history, and they also stayed in first place in Conference USA with a 6-0 mark.
