Showing the poise and patience of a veteran team, the UTEP Miners outscored UAB 26-12 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 62-54 win Sunday night in front of 1,512 fans at the the Don Haskins Center.
The Miners are now 13-1 on the season and 4-0 in Conference USA, while UAB slips to 7-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.
"It was a fantastic win for us," UTEP coach Keitha Adams said. "It was a hard-fought win, the team played hard and keep fighting."
UTEP trailed 42-36 entering the fourth quarter, but the Miners turned to a 2-2-1 press and UAB came unhinged on offense.
