The UTEP football team's spring depth chart hasn't changed dramatically from the first day of practice, but there has been one big mover in linebacker Leon Hayes.
He wasn't on the two-deep as a safety when spring began, but now is a starting middle linebacker.
"He fits our scheme well, he's been playing well," coach Sean Kugler said. "He's been one of the pleasant surprises of the spring."
Hayes played extensively in his first three years here at safety but said the transition to linebacker hasn't been huge.
"I'm doing a lot of what I was doing last year, I'm getting to be physical," he said.
