While UTEP has settled its quarterback battle, their first opponent, New Mexico State, has chaos there.
Tyler Rogers, who had won NMSU's competition, was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor battery charge against his girlfriend. This comes shortly after the player he beat out, graduate transfer Tyler Matthews from Southern Miss, quit the team.
New Mexico State says it has just begun its investigation into Rogers' arrest. Under school rules, there is discretion in dealing with a player who is charged with a crime other than a felony, so Rogers could still be available for the Sept.
