Notes: Rogers shines in first start

UTEP gave another true freshman his first start against Louisiana Tech in Justin Rogers, and coach Sean Kugler was quite happy with his play. Rogers led the team with two of their six pass breakups and both could have been interceptions.

"Justin is really doing a good job," Kugler said. "That's going to give us three quality corners when Kalon comes back. Kalon has been injured, it's not that Justin beat him out. But Justin's play has been quality. He's a competitor, he fights for balls. I'm very pleased with Justin Rogers."

Minuses

The defense had some good moments against Louisiana Tech, basically the entire second and third quarters, but again had no sacks and no turnovers.
