Notes: UTEP prepares for huge crowd

The largest crowd UTEP has ever played in front of was the last time it was in Austin, in 2009, in front of 101,144 at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium.

The official "capacity" of the stadium is listed at 100,119, and Texas' school record was last week when it had 102,315.

As of Wednesday about 6,000 tickets remained for the UTEP-Texas game, so at very least UTEP should see the second most fans ever to watch them. Currently second is the 92,824 who saw the Miners’ 26-16 loss at Tennessee in 1986.

"That's crazy, I've never been in a stadium half that full," defensive tackle Mike Sota said.
