The surest bet when UTEP plays New Mexico State next Saturday in the Sun Bowl is that the Miners will win time of possession.
The Miners look to hold the ball, NMSU goes up-tempo. That can make it hard for a team like UTEP to simulate what the Aggies' offense is going to do, and the solution Friday was to run two huddles. Both the scout team and the second team were shuttling in against the first team offense, snapping the ball just a few seconds after the previous play ended.
"They run an up-tempo offense, they run a bunch of plays and the way you simulate that is with two huddles," coach Sean Kugler said.
