UTEP has added a high-profile road game to the 2018 schedule, as the Miners will travel to Tennessee on Sept. 15. It will be the Miners' third trip to Knoxville, as they lost there in 1986 and 1990.
Tennessee was 9-4 last season, including a 45-6 victory over Northwestern in the Outback Bowl. The Vols finished 22nd in the final Associated Press poll under coach Butch Jones.
UTEP has two games against power conference teams next year, as it hosts Arizona and travels to Oklahoma.
Aggie status
New Mexico State coach Doug Martin and athletic director Mario Moccia floated the possibility quarterback Tyler Rogers might not be available for the UTEP game as the university's disciplinary process plays out.
