The loss of Trayvon Hughes to a knee injury meant the significant role of taking 10 carries per game in a backup capacity to Aaron Jones is wide open, and true freshmen Quadraiz Wadley and Kevin Dove certainly proved capable in Sunday's scrimmage.
Wadley closed his excellent first 10 days as a Miner by carrying 10 times for 63 yards, while the 250-pound Dove battered his way to 62 yards on eight carries.
"We've got three quality backups," Miner Coach Sean Kugler said. "You saw what Wadley can do. He reminds me of Aaron Jones when he was a freshman, he's going to play for us.
