The UTEP football team's three-way quarterback battle may be 30 practices and five months from being resolved, and it certainly didn't end in Friday's first big scrimmage of the Spring.
The hour-long session did serve to shine a light, albeit a small one, on the state of the race as spring inches toward the halfway point.
As has been the case throughout the second week, Ryan Metz was the first quarterback to take the field, generally had the best numbers and had the highlights. Mack Leftwich was steady as always and Kavika Johnson had his moments, though was plagued by snap issues that weren't all his fault.
