Stanford's Thomas makes mark with 'motor'

There are so many aspects to Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas' game that make him far more effective than his 6-foot-3, 273-pound frame should indicate.

As a first-team All-Pac-12 player, a third-team All-American, the Texan from the Dallas suburb of Coppell is the leader of a Stanford defense tasked with slowing North Carolina superstar quarterback Mitch Trubisky in Friday's Hyundai Sun Bowl.

But for all Thomas has done, the book on him always begins with the same first sentence.

"His motor is always going," coach David Shaw said.
