Playing true freshmen is always a bit of a glass half-full/half-empty conundrum for an FBS team.
The practice certainly should be rare in an established program, but it can represent success in recruiting and hope for the future.
Heading into fall camp, UTEP coach Sean Kugler rattled off a couple of names of true freshmen he thought could crack the two-deep at some point in 2016. Three weeks later he released a depth chart with six of them on it.
Of those, two, grayshirt receiver Eddie Sinegal and kick returner Walter Dawn, were on Kugler's initial list.
