UAB’s Rachel Green scored a goal in the 70th minute to beat the Miners, 1-0 Friday night at University Field.
The Miners (5-6, 1-1 C-USA) recorded nine shots on goal but Blazer (7-2-1, 1-0-0) goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty came up with some big saves to keep the clean sheet. Alyssa Palacios was credited with six saves, including four in the first frame.
“I thought we played good enough to win today,” UTEP head coach Kevin Cross said in a press release. “The second half we had it in their end most of the time. We had some prime opportunities to score, but the ball just didn’t go into the goal unfortunately.
