Basketball is back! The UTEP Men’s basketball team is hype for the start of the 2016/17 season. The key focus in the off season was defense. The Miners went small last season due to the loss of 7 foot 1 center Matt Willms. UTEP ranking no. 6 in the preseason polls, with no players named on the preseason conference team.
The Don Haskin Basketball Arena welcomed spectators this past Saturday for the traditional orange and white scrimmage. Omega Harris made his presence known, scoring 36 points to lead the orange to the victory over the white. Many of the Miners have a chip on their shoulder some chips from last season, some from the preseason polls.
