Monday's UTEP spring practice was another strong day for the defense, which turned a corner in the past week and a half.
"Defense dominated," coach Sean Kugler said. "In the red zone the defense had three straight stops, they stopped them every time. You have to be good in the red zone on defense, this was a good day by them."
In fact, at one point Kugler grew so frustrated with the offensive struggles he had them start the 10-minute red zone session over after going nowhere for five minutes.
One player Kugler singled out was sophomore nosetackle Denzel Chukwukelu, who has cemented himself as a starter.
