UTEP ended a basketball season in heartbreak — like so many college hoop teams.
The Miners finished the season at 19-14 and with a disappointing 87-85 loss to Marshall in the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals. It was a season better than most, worse than anticipated. But it was certainly a good season in the classroom.
Ten Miners made the Conference USA Honor Roll, representing a 3.0 GPA or better. And one Miner, redshirt freshman Trey Touchet, received the Conference USA Academic Medal, an award that requires a 3.75 or better GPA.
"I'm really, really proud of the guys," UTEP coach Tim Floyd said.
