UTEP sweeps Charlotte in volleyball

UTEP had been teetering on the brink of success in the Conference USA volleyball world.

Friday night the Miners tasted that success, sweeping Charlotte 3-0 in Memorial Gym. The Miners won 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 — getting stronger and stronger as the match wore on.

Freshman Macey Austin led the Miners with 11 kills. Senior Lindsey Larson flirted with yet another triple double with seven kills, 20 assists and 10 digs. Sarah Villa had 17 digs, Briana Arellano had 13 digs and Amanda King had 18 assists, 12 digs.

UTEP got off to a slow start Friday, trailing Charlotte 10-4 in the first set.
