In terms of the kickoff coverage game, UTEP and Florida International are in opposite situations. The Miners have a Conference USA-low 16 kickoffs this season and have 14 touchbacks. FIU has 22 kickoffs and two touchbacks.
That could create some opportunities for Jaquan White, who is fifth in the league in kick returns. The bad news for UTEP is that its average starting field position after the opposing team kicks off is its own 23, two yards worse than a touchback. The Panthers are 11th out of 13 teams in C-USA in kick coverage.
"They only have two touchbacks, so I think we will get some return opportunities in this game," UTEP coach Sean Kugler said.
