UTEP's opponent ready to take next step

Since Old Dominion started up football in 2009 after a 75-year hiatus, the Monarchs have been a model of how to do it right.

They debuted in front of a season's worth of sellouts in the FCS with a 9-2 mark and made the playoffs the two years they were eligible, in 2011 and '12, before the transition to the FBS.

They've only had one losing season in their current existence, last year when they had a late-season injury to their quarterback and finished 5-7, and they've run that sellout string to a perfect 51 games.

There still, though, is work for ODU to do.
