The last time WSU and Gonzaga met up, it wasn’t pretty for the Cougs. The Zags took an early 9-0 lead, thanks in part to a seven walk fifth inning from WSU pitching, and that ended up being the final in five innings after a serious injury to a Gonzaga player.
On Tuesday, the teams wrapped up their season series in Spokane and things started slowly for WSU. The 21st ranked Bulldogs scored four runs in the first inning and appeared poised for another run-away win. But the Cougs were able to slowly fight their way back.
