The state of Arizona was not kind to the Washington State women’s basketball team this week. After losing by nine to Arizona on Friday, the Cougs suffered a 67-61 loss to Arizona State on Sunday.
The loss was WSU’s third straight defeat following its win against No. 5 UCLA. On Sunday, the Cougars ran into issues in the third quarter. Trailing by five at halftime, the Cougs dug themselves into a huge hole in the third quarter by making just 3-of-11 shots. ASU, meanwhile, made 7-of-13 shots in the quarter to extend the lead to 15 points.
WSU surged back in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.
